Banting Mutiara Academy was set up in 1997 to offer opportunities for poor SPM leavers with low grades to further their studies to diploma level. Via a joint venture agreement with EDI, YBK established this college with a capital of RM 400,000. Since 2003, this college was placed under sole management of a YBK subsidiary, when EDI withdrew itself from the joint venture agreement,

The learning syllabus in this college had been given minimal accreditation from LAN, whereby this college offers diploma level courses. The courses offered are Computer Science & Information Technology, Business Study and Accounting with fees amounting to RM 169 per month.

Up until 2005, more than 1,200 students had further their studies in this college. However, in 2005, the board members of YBK trust holders has decided to cease operation of this private higher learning institute (IPTS) college program due to tight financial flow.

To date, this college only offers short term courses and Malaysia Skills Certificate which is a Computer Networking Certificate.
