Desa Kasih is a socio-economic program planned and executed by the foundation (YBK) from 1996 to 1999. In this program,the identified hardcore poor families would be placed in the provided housing area. With the cooperation and collaboration with government agencies such as district Offices and Selangor Religious Council, YBK has managed to identify and develop settlement areas and other facilities to those eligible.

The houses that are developed either with 2 rooms or 3 rooms facilities have been allotted to those who are eligible in order to replace their dilapidated houses. There are 9 settlement areas that have been developed with the cost of the houses amounting to  RM2,124,750.00, an amount not inclusive of infrastructure cost and facilities such as community hall and mosque. The Desa Kasih Program has managed to place 379 hardcore poor household members from all over Selangor. The areas that are developed to serve this purpose are known as Desa Kasih.

YBK has also planned and executed the appropriate socio-economic programs for the participants of Desa Kasih via programs such as Economic Development, Desa Kasih ICT Establishment Centre and Students Excellence Centre and The Enhancement Of Household Income program.

Desa Kasih Tebuk Pulai Tengah

It is the first Desa Kasih constructed by YBK with cooperation from Pejabat Pembangunan Negeri Selangor and Sabak Bernam District Office. This Desa Kasih consists of 15 units of houses that are constructed through gotong-royong with a construction cost of RM45,000. It has a base square area of 440' x 70'. The square area of the lot is 50' x 70' and the square area of the house is 14' x 20'. This first Desa Kasih was completed on 30th May 1992.

Up until 2003, Desa Kasih consisted of 12 families with household members of 65 people. Among the activities that are carried out here are ICT classes and the Students Excellence Centre where students have access to computer learning and reading materials. Apart from this, most of the students and participants are also involved in motivational programs and self achievement seminars that are conducted by YBK from time to time.

Desa Kasih Batu 2 Tebuk Pulai

It is located at Batu 2 Tebuk Pulai in Sabak Bernam. This housing placement area for the hardcore poor families has a square area of 4.16 acres. This Desa Kasih in Sabak Bernam was developed in September 1996 with 61 unit houses with each house having the square area of 20' x 25'. The entire construction cost is a total of RM372,000.00.

Based on a survey done in 2003, there were 333 residents whereby 180 were male and 153 were female with an average household of 5.5 members for each family. The percentage of labour participation from the residents amounted to only 47.8%. In general, the hardcore poor family rate in this vicinity amounted to only 1.6% and 39.3% were poor families. Among the facilities provided in this particular Desa Kasih includes prayer rooms,community hall, ICT Centre, Students Excellence Centre and tailoring workshops. The ICT Centre of Desa Kasih Batu 2 Tebuk Pulai provides learning facilities to students and head of the household with teachers provided by YBK. YBK has supplied and incurred maintenance costs of 8 computer units and its network, and a printer.

Desa Kasih Parit 8 1/2 Barat

Desa Kasih Parit 8 1/2 Barat is located in Parit 8 1/2 Sg. Besar, Sabak Bernam with an area of 6.4 hectares. The placement of hardcore poor families consists of 73 unit of houses with houses measurement of 14' x 18' and 60' x 100' square area of each base. The total costs involved is RM 219,000 and is completed in 1995. Until now there are 83 PPRT (Housing Program for Hardcore Poor) families have been given this housing facilities in this Desa Kasih. The Selangor Religious Council has also built another 14 houses, with 442 total number of residents.

YBK has also developed ICT Centre of Desa Kasih Parit 8 1/2 Barat with 8 unit of computers and a printer. A full time ICT teacher has been stationed at this ICT centre. The ICT teacher is responsible in preparing ICT classes for primary and secondary students. A Students Excellence Centre has been established and equipped with reading and reference materials for Desa Kasih students. In 2001-02, UPSR tuition classes, PMR and SPM have been provided by YBK to assist the students. YBK also provides sewing skills for housewives.

Desa Kasih Pasir Putih Kalumpang

Desa Kasih Kg. Pasir Puteh is located in Pekan Kalumpang, Hulu Selangor. The settlement for hardcore poor families here has 12 unit of houses on a 0.650 acres of land.

This project is constructed by YBK, Selangor Religious Council and Hulu Selangor District Office. The construction cost of Desa Kasih within this vicinity is RM 118,200. The construction began in 20 September 1997 and completed in December 1997. The selected participants have started to occupy the houses since April 1998.

Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah

Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah is located in Mukim Sungai Panjang in Sabak Bernam, with a square area of 20 acres. Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah has 110 unit of houses with the square area of 20' x 25' with the total cost of RM 1.127 millions, funded together by YBK, Selangor Religious Council (MAIS) and Selangor Economic Planning Unit (UPEN). This Desa Kasih is fully completed in 1998. The houses that are constructed in Desa Kasih are equipped with electricity, water and toilets. Other facilities that are provided for the residents of this Desa Kasih are prayer rooms, community hall and KEMAS kindergarten.

Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah Project has managed to place hardcore poor families from all over Selangor. There are 597 residents that occupy this vicinity, 299 male and 298 female. Of the 205 man power, only 149 are working (40.6% labour participation). In general, YBK only spotted 3 (3%) families that still have income below the hardcore poor level. YBK also carried out several socio-economic programs that are specifically carried out within this vicinity such as Economic Project of Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah, Attitude Correctional Program of Desa Kasih Merbau Berdarah,Students Excellence Centre and ICT Centre.

Desa Kasih Tg. Jawa

Desa Kasih Tg. Jawa is located on a piece of government land nearby Kampung Tanjung Jawa Mosque in Mukim Sabak, Sabak Bernam district with base square area of 1.5 acres. Desa Kasih Tg. Jawa has 15 unit of houses measuring 20' x 34' with the base area of each house are 60 feet x 50 feet. The development of Desa Kasih Tg. Jawa incurred the cost of RM208,950 and completed in December 1998. Among the facilities made available are ICT Centre and Students Excellence Centre.

There are 15 families placed in this vicinity with 104 residents, out of which 41 are male and 63 female. There are only 31 working out of 59 manpower available. In Desa Kasih Tg. Jawa, generally there are no longer family that fell under the category of hardcore poor whereby all 15 families has received income above the hardcore poor level.

Desa Kasih Kg. Sekendi

Desa Kasih Kg. Sekendi is located at Jalan Tok Dolah,Kampung Sekendi, Mukim Bagan Nakhoda Omar in Sabak Bernam. Desa Kasih has 13 unit houses with the total construction cost of RM 173,160. The square area of each house is 22' x 28' equipped with bath and toilet, electrical wiring and piping system. Desa Kasih Kg. Sekendi is completed in January 1999.

There are 109 residents and 21 families staying here, out of which 53 male and 56 female. Average household members for each family is 5.2 people. The labour participation of the resident is 48.3% or equivalent to 35 working people out of 60 labour force. Based on the survey done by YBK, only 2 families are left that can be categorized as the hardcore poor.

Desa Kasih Bagan Nakhoda Omar

Desa Kasih Bagan Nakhoda Omar is located on a piece of government gazetted land in Teluk Haji Arshad,Kampung Simpang Empat. Desa Kasih Bagan Nakhoda Omar has a base square area of 3 acres, housing 36 houses whereby the measurement of each lot for house foundation is 50' x 60' with the entire construction cost of RM 479,304. Desa Kasih Bagan Nakhoda Omar is completed in 1999.

Up until 2003, this Desa Kasih has 35 household members with 167 residents; 69 male and 98 female with average household members number of 4.8 people. 53 people are working which accounts for labour participation force of 55.8% only. Up until now, the hardcore poor level of household is 2.9% or only 1 household that is still under the hardcore poor level. This Desa Kasih has facilities such as a community hall and ICT that is developed by Selangor Religous Council. YBK provides ICT classes and reading materials for residents, especially students. YBK also provides hawker area to enable residents who are interested in engaging in small businesses.

Desa Kasih Sg. Kajang

Desa Kasih Sg. Kajang is located in Tanjung Karang, Kuala Selangor with a square area of 2.5 acres. This Desa Kasih has 26 units of houses with 40' x 45' square lot area of each house. The square area of the house is 22' x 28' with the total construction cost of RM314,160.00 but not inclusive of ground work and road cost by District Office and prayer room and KEMAS quarters developed by KKLW. This Desa Kasih is fully completed in 1999, with communal activities facilities such as KEMAS classes, prayer room and kindergarten.

There are 182 residents, 88 male and 94 female with average household members number of each family is 7.0. Out of 97 labour force, only 35 are working whereby the participation level of the labour force is 36.1%. On the whole, there are only two households that have income below the hardcore poor level with the rate of 7.7%.
